Plastisol Curable Reducer is a plastisol ink substance that reduces ink viscosity. In short, it’s a chemical that you add to plastisol ink to make it less sticky and simpler for you to work with.
Printing with plastisol ink will result in a thicker ink deposit on the shirt, as expected. Plastisol ink is significantly thicker than water-based ink, and so has different handling properties. The thicker body of the plastisol ink makes it a little harder to work with.
This is where ink reducer comes to the rescue. If you print with plastisol and experience trouble with the viscosity of the inks or prefer a delicate hand feel on the shirt, a curable reducer will be your best friend. The additive reduces ink viscosity while still curing at the same temperature as your ink.
Mix in 2-5% by weight, depending on the ink you are using. Some plastisol inks may be able to use up to 10% by weight.
Curing – Cure at (160°C) for 1 to 90-second period (depending on the thickness of the ink deposit and oven type). A thicker deposit takes longer to cure; heat must penetrate through the entire ink layer.
Curing: To fully cure, cure ink at 160°C until heat penetrates the entire ink layer.
Note: Adding to much will result in color change, and extended curing time.
